Music - Lyrics: Into The Blue.

SATELLITE
Monique Brumby

Neighbour what a cool design, you’re a satellite
What a cruel desire
Wanted, wanted to be like the sun and shine on everyone
What a cool desire
And you’re right don’t want to talk about it
Not even enough to lift you up
Don’t wanna talk about it, not even enough to lift you up
‘Cause I’m already gone
And you’re right don’t want to talk about it
Not even enough to lift you up
Not even enough to mess you up
Don’t wanna talk about it, not even enough to lift you up
Neighbour what a cool design, you’re a satellite
What a cruel desire ‘cause I’m already gone
And kind words don’t mean that much
From someone who’s out of touch with all I do, who I am
Who are you, who are you
And you’re right don’t wanna talk about it
Not even enough to lift you up
Don’t wanna talk about it, not even enough to lift you up
Neighbour what a cool design, you’re a satellite
What a cruel desire ‘cause I’m already gone
Wanted, wanted to be like the sun, shine on everyone
What a cruel desire, desire
Neighbour what a cool design, you’re a satellite
What a cruel desire ‘cause I’m already gone
And kind words don’t mean that much
From someone who’s out of touch With all I do, who I am
Who are you, who are you
Who are you, who are you
Won’t you tell me ‘cause I’ve been searching
I’ve been waiting all my life, you’re a satellite

DAISY CHAIN
Monique Brumby

I’m going back to the farm
Where the starry night skies roll on and on
I’m going back to my ancestry
Gonna find out a little more about what made me
When Madeleine was 26
She was given a daisy chain made with love
She kept that daisy chain in her jewelry box
To this day the chain remains unbroken
I’m going back to the southern shores
Gonna run along my favourite beaches with my dog
And I will miss you ‘til the day I die
But I find comfort knowing I can see you in the sky
I’m going back to the farm
Where the brilliant sunrise wakes me from my sleep
Knowing I still have a million miles to run
And a million songs still to be sung
I’m going back to the farm I tell ya
Where the starry night skies roll on & on into November and all year
Tonight we’re gonna sing songs of hope and joy
And be thankful for what we’ve learned along the way
And be thankful for what we’ve learned along the way
The moon, the sun, the laughter and the tears
We find comfort knowing you’ll always be near
Each link in the chain holds strong and true
The chain remains unbroken
The chain remains unbroken
The chain remains unbroken

WILD SEED
Monique Brumby

His face was dark and dusty, my load was heavy
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find him
You should know he’s thought about it, he’s thought about it
He said the Lord’s gonna take his soul tonight
He said today’s been the worst day of his whole life
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find him
You should know he’s thought about it, he’s thought about it
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find me
You should know I’ve thought about it, ooh I’ve thought
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find him
So let him know you’ve thought about it, you’ve thought about it
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find me
Let me know you’ve thought about it, ooh you’ve thought
I said hey man how can you stand the street
I get by little lady, I’ve got a wild seed
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find him
And he will know you’ve thought about it, you’ve thought about it
Where the wild seed grows that’s where you’ll find us
And we will know you’ve thought about it, ooh you’ve thought
Where the wild seed grows, where the wild seed grows
Where the wild seed grows, you will find us

JANIE
Monique Brumby

Janie got married in the middle of a desert
Janie got married in the middle of a seasonal change
But we knew it’d never work out anyway
His best man lost the wedding ring
What you thought you had has gone
What you thought you had has gone
Janie was always looking for perfection in a rose garden
But it wasn’t until the day he opened up his heart to find
The most beautiful ones are the ones that fall apart
What you thought you had has gone
What you thought you had has gone
What if you were to reconcile your insignificant, meaningless life
Would you fade away, ah would you love
And what if they saw those weeping eyes, would you let them know the sacrifice ah would you love ah would you love
Janie got married way too young
He didn’t know who he was or where he was going
You see him around these days and to look at him who could tell
The life he had before he sure hides it well
What you thought you had has gone
What you thought you had has gone
A new day dawns and with every small step
Janie movies forward into the light and out of regret
Regret for what his father showed him
Of exactly how not to feel, how to hide emotion, how to not be real
‘til all the love that came just slipped right through his hands
Until his father was an old and bitter man
Janie grew up in that and how was he to know
That what his father reaped he must sow
Until the hurt could mend after the way he treated his mum
Helped pick up the pieces when his dad had up and gone

All the scars we hide everyday

What you thought you had has gone
What you thought you had has gone
What you thought you had has gone
Hallelujah there’s a new day that’s dawning, hallelujah, hallelujah
Janie got married in the middle of a desert
Janie got married in the middle of a seasonal change

PROCESSION
Monique Brumby & Maryanne Window

Take her out to the outskirts of town
Where she can feel the feel
Of the warm night air on her shoulders
Help to bring her back to life
On New Year’s Eve she watched lovers holding hands
Drunk and kissin’ by the carousel
Oh how she wanted to ride on the horses
But she was no longer a little girl
Ah we went down
Procession went right down town
She remembers the years she tried to hide
To be like other girls
She got a really bad reputation
And in a small town that was not ideal
Ah we went down
Procession went right down town
Cold and only grey, the winter stays and never goes away
So take her out to the outskirts of town
Buy her a new dress and give her flowers
Give her all that she deserves
Tell her you’re glad she’s not like them other girls
Ah we went down
Procession went right down town
Cold and only grey, the winter stays and never goes away

INTO THE BLUE
Monique Brumby

Well I’ve been down there
And I felt it too
And I’ve seen angels
Fly away into the blue
But they were not real angels
Just a string of bad ideas
That’s when I looked closer
And I saw real angels appear
As pure as a child
Climbing a tree on a summer’s day
With each branch climbing higher
Real angels won’t fly away
You will find them in your bloodline
You will feel them in your heart
Never fear that they have left you
They’ve always been there from the start
Real angels
Yes, I’ve seen angels
And I know that they see you
If you listen you’ll hear them calling out
Fly away into the blue
Take the time to look around you now
Fly away into the blue
Fly away into the blue

LUCKY MAN
Monique Brumby

You’ve got that smile
The one that tells me you’re lovin’ me for me
Well it ain’t no secret, we ain’t never had much money
But the kids don’t go without and their clothes ain’t got no holes
My man’s been working hard down at the Hydro
He’s a real man’s man and they love him ‘round here
He’ll work with his hands when his mind is clear
When the weekends roll ‘round that’s when his drinking begins
It breaks my heart
I need you there when I get home
The kids are clean and fed and we can be alone
I need you there to draw the blinds in the morning
You get me out of bed you keep me movin’
When you’re lovin’ me for me
Well it ain’t no secret, he’s a faithful man
He’d build me a house out of bottles and cans
Bottles and cans don’t quite live up to the dreams
I had on the day he asked me to marry him
This should be enough but my boy drives him home
The pub ain’t the place for a boy 10 years old
My man he’s a good man, every man has his vice
The lonesome sailor, this devoted wife
Love is so precious, it may fade when it gets old
No tear can be mended when the drink takes hold
Listen my darling there are no guarantees
Tell me one more time you’re lovin’ me
I need you there when I get home
I need you there to help share this load
The pub ain’t the place for a boy 10 years old
My man you’re a good man, every man has his vice
I just need you here tonight
You’re a lucky man ‘cause I do all I can
When you’re lovin’ me for me

TELEGRAPH EXCHANGE
Monique Brumby & Maryanne Window

Aces and crises they go hand in hand
Playing poker down at the Telegraph Exchange
The same crowd would gather every Saturday night
But this evening was different now the stakes were high
A fight broke out between two young men
Many games were played that night
Only one man would win her love
Daniel and Andy were the two men involved
Daniel lost his tenth hand straight and the woman he loved
Andy was bragging telling all of his friends
That Daniel he was a loser man, the kid could never win
Andy swears it was self defense
Came to in the neon light
Daniel’s blood on his hands and he cried
Some things you just can not mend
Aces and crises go hand in hand
When you fall for the Queen of Hearts
Down at the Telegraph Exchange
Ten years have gone by and the faces have changed
But the ghosts of the past they still remain
And all of these faces just come out of the rain
As Andy walks the streets down by the Telegraph Exchange
Take my soul and leave me there
And leave me there

ONE LOVE
Monique Brumby

Sad song sung from the ground up to the sun
What is it that we’re fighting for?
Land, greed, power or what has gone before?
Still we carry on yeah, we’ve got to carry on and build one love
Sad song sung, nick knack paddy whack give that dog a bone
He ain’t a dog, he’s a man
But going to war really messed him up now he’s dong the best he can
Just to carry on yeah, we’ve got to carry on and build one love
Here we are rocking these streets
Trying to find a way to get free
Here we are down on our knees
Trying to find a way to build one love
Sad song sung from a mother to her son
He asked her what are we dying for
And the song she sung was a beautiful song about standing strong and building one love
We’ve gotta carry on yeah, we’ve got to carry on and build one love
Here we are rocking these streets
Trying to find a way to get free
Here we are down on our knees
Trying to find a way to build
And carry on yeah, we’ve got to carry on
We’ve got to carry on and build one love
Build one love

ACROSS THIS LAND
Monique Brumby

Gazing out across this land
Birds fly from the palm of your hand
We walked through the South Melbourne Gardens
When you spoke my heart had to listen
Years I spent searching not knowing where to begin
Now I’ve found you, my brothers, my friends
One brother played me music on his didgeridoo
The other told me of the races held under the South Melbourne Moon
Where all the town’s folk would gather
On weekends and holidays too
To watch and bet on the horses
As they raced around the park where we stood
Under the oak tree, it’s branches our canopy
I picture the terrace houses filled with the jostling crowds
At the start of the 20th Century
When these oak trees first grew from the ground
Years I spent searching and now I’ve found a place to begin
Gazing out across this land

MELTING
Monique Brumby & Paul Kelly

At the back of your grandmothers house there was a hill
With a tangled garden thick and wild
We used to go there you and I
Just to get away from the aunts and uncles & their home made brew
We carried our ice creams in the summer sun
Tried to make them last as long as we could
Pretty soon they started to run
Dripping down our arms, dripping on the ground
Melting, melting
We sat under the trees smoking bark
Lighting little fires then stomping each one out
As the summer went on the flames grew higher
We’d just stare and stare and stare at everything
Melting, melting
At the back of my grandmothers house there was a hill
Black and smoky at the end of the day
We watched the fire trucks go back on down the road
We heard them calling out our names
We were standing in the shadows
Melting, melting

Your grandmother’s house is now a supermarket
And I’m far away and living in a colder city
Tonight I pull the top off a bottle of beer
I’ve lit a fire and I’m wondering about you and if you remember me
And I’m melting, melting
